Lani practiced her first mindful breath at age 8, which sparked a life-long journey of self-discovery. Her passion for educating others was ignited when her son suffered anxiety and sleep issues. Lani would sit with him and teach him to practice slow, deep belly breaths. This would calm him so that he was able to relax and fall asleep. This experience inspired Lani to teach others. Since 2004, Lani has taught yoga and mindfulness to thousands of students, athletes, and educators at schools, libraries, sports fields, senior centers, and in studios. Her commitment is to empower each and every person with tools to awaken greater awareness, kindness, and compassion within themselves creating the potential to transform our world.
Lani started meditating regularly as a young mom. When she skipped her practice, her boys noticed that she seemed more reactive, stressed, and overwhelmed. Years of daily practice has benefited Lani, as well as positively impacting her relationships at home and in the workplace. Lani enjoys living mindfully. Whether hiking, dancing, biking, reading, practicing yoga, meditating, or teaching mindfulness she feels best when fully aware and present. Practicing mindfulness has opened Lani to increased patience and greater joy, while creating a deeper connection to herself, others, and nature.
Lani's students of yoga, energy healing, and mindfulness consistently requested tools so to feel as attentive and peaceful outside of class as they felt in class. This led to the creation of A-Z Mindfulness. The 26 powerful strategies were chosen because they can be practiced almost anywhere, are engaging, and easy to learn. Further, they encourage awareness of oneself and what is going on around them. Life's challenges and bombardment of information can leave us feeling exhausted, anxious, or depressed. A-Z Mindfulness teaches strategies to recharge, while increasing feelings of happiness, peace, and connectivity. Lani's intention is to teach everybody who is curious and willing to explore, transformational social and emotional learning strategies to improve health and well-being while empowering them to self-regulate, feel good, and live a happy life.
